4-H Contests

These activities that qualify for participation at the State level:
     *Cake Decorating
     *Creative Cooks
     *Public Presentation
     *Prepared/Impromptu Speech
     *Horse Demonstration
     *Horse Public Speaking
     *Livestock Judging
     *Livestock Quiz Bowl

Pueblo County has a Contest Day in April of each year for events requiring a qualifier. The winners in each age group (Junior, Intermediate, Senior) of the Cake Decorating, Creative Cooks, and Public Presentations (Demonstrations/Illustrated Talks and Interpretive Reading) qualify to compete at the State Fair, and Senior members who win the Speech Contest (Impromptu speech or prepared speech) or Horse Demo/Public Speaking qualify to compete at State Conference.

The Livestock Judging Team and Livestock Quiz Bowl team are completed in partnership with Otero County Extension. Practices and competitions vary, but culminate in contests at State Conference. For information about the Livestock Judging or Quiz Bowl teams, contact Lillian.

Participants will register for Contest Day through 4-H online. 

And even though Cloverbuds cannot compete at the State level, we do encourage their participation in Contest Day.
