The Pueblo County Master Gardeners are wrapping up summer and starting to think about putting their gardens to bed for the winter. Curious what they have been up to? Check out some recent updates.
Seed library
The All Pueblo Grows seed library continued this summer with monthly educational events at the Barkman library. The seed catalog is still active at the Rawlings library, and the little seed libraries around town are still functioning. You can learn more about the seed library here. There are still two more educational events in September and October, join us for these free, family friendly sessions!
Edible landscapes
Season three of the edible landscapes project is nearing an end. These public gardens are a collaboration between the Master Gardeners and the Pueblo Food Project. Master Gardeners tend the gardens, but anyone is welcome to come help with weeding, and to harvest any produce growing in the gardens. You can learn more here.
State Fair
The Master Gardeners had an educational booth at the State Fair this year at which they talked to over 1,400 people. There were educational displays on water wise and sustainable landscape practices, and live demos including how to dry onions and how to grow microgreens.
Farmers’ Market
You can find the Master Gardeners weekly at the Southern Colorado Farmers’ Market and Craft Fair at Mineral Palace Park on Friday mornings. They have educational resources for adults and fun activities for kids. Make sure you stop by the Master Gardener booth while you are out getting your weekly produce!
New class
If these activities are interesting to you, consider joining the program! We are currently accepting applications until October 16. For more information on the program, and for the link to apply, click here.
