As we begin to prepare our garden sites for seeding and planting, it is a good time to start looking for bugs that have over-wintered in our garden beds. Clean out any debris that might have blown in over the winter to remove their hiding places. It is also a good idea to lightly till the soil before planting to expose other bugs. We want to be watchful for beneficial bugs that are helpful in eating the pest bugs. Here are a few to look for: green lacewings, ladybugs, assassin bugs, praying mantises, minute pirates, ground beetles, and stink bugs.
