Originally envisioned and created by Jared Miera and Lizz Catt, the Pueblo Seed Library got its start in 2013. It now continues with the help of many volunteers, including Pueblo County Master Gardeners and All Pueblo Grows. The seed stock includes vegetables, flowers, including native plants, and herbs.

Over the years the concept of this Library has grown into an active group of volunteers who perpetuate it today. Pueblo Rawlings Library hosts the collection, where seeds may be checked out for free with a Library Card for home use. The expectation is that growers will harvest some of their seeds and donate them back to stock the seed stores for availability the next year. In some cases, seed companies donate seeds. Interested seed donors are always welcome to provide stocks also. We make every effort to ensure that the seeds are NON-GMO.

The Pueblo City-County Library District – Rawlings Branch sponsors monthly lectures on the last Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Each month promotes a season-specific topic including starting seeds indoors (Jan-March), transplanting into your garden (March-May), common diseases of plants and how to deal with them (June-Aug), and harvesting and food preservation (Sept-November).  There are seed kit boxes available to encourage newbies to try their hand at growing a vegetable or herb garden.  Come spring, just go to the All Pueblo Grows website, and click the link to order a seed kit.  For information, contact Deric Stowell at Info@allpueblogrows.org or 719-281-6520.
