Upcoming Dates and Horse and Dog project information

Attention Horse And Dog Leaders And Members:
The new 4-H year will be starting soon and Carol would like to thank the horse and dog leaders, parents, and youth for making 2016 such a successful year. We are confident next year will bring the same. Below are some of the important dates that will be coming up for both programs:
October
1 – 7 – National 4-H week
2 – Horse Council – 6:30 pm – Colorado Building – State Fairgrounds – this is the first meeting of the new year that will count towards meetings attended
4 – Parent/Leader Group – 6:30 pm – all leaders and parents invited
9 – Extension Office closed
10 – Dog Advisory Committee – 6:00 pm – Extension Office
14 – State Dog Committee – Douglas County 8:30 – 3:00 pm
18 – Fair Board Meeting – they are in the process of setting the schedule for the 2018 County Fair – all are welcome to attend. If you want on the agenda, please let Carol know.
23 – 26 – Annual Forum – Devin and Carol gone
27 – Pueblo County 4-H Achievement Night – St. Joseph’s church – dinner tickets must be purchased by October 25 by 5:00 pm – $10.50 adults; $5.50 10 & under – doors open 5:00; dinner 5:30; awards 6:00 pm – top dog award; top handler dog award, supreme horse award, versatility horse award presented
November
1 – Organizational Leader Meeting – Extension Office3-5 – Dare To Be You camp – Colorado State Fairgrounds
10 – Extension Office closed
6 – Horse Council – Annual achievement dinner – 6:30 pm – Colorado Building – Horse Council will provide drinks and meat; all are invited to bring pot luck dishes. Buckles will be presented.
15 – Fair Board
December
1 – Re-enrollment due – youth who were enrolled last year need to be re-enrolled by this date
2-3 – Bells of Christmas Craft Show sponsored by Parent/Leader Group – Creative Arts building – Colorado State Fairgrounds
25 – Extension Office closed
Both the Horse Council and Dog Council will need to start thinking about any changes wanted for the 2017/18 County Fair. Rule changes are due to the Pueblo County Fair Board by their January 2018 meeting. Please email any ideas you may have so they might be discussed with these two groups.
