Colorado State Fair Hosts Virtual Garden Harvest Competition   arrow

Written by: Trisha Fernandez

Did you have more time to devote to your garden this year? Did you finally grow that glass gem corn you have been itching to plant? Although you won’t be able to compete and share your garden beauties in person at the Colorado State Fair this year, you can compete with a photo of your harvest all from the comfort of your home!

The Colorado State Fair will be hosting a virtual Garden Harvest Competition. It’s FREE and easy to enter. All you need to do is register and submit a photo of your garden arrangement. The arrangement must include 5-10 different types of vegetables, fruits and/or herbs. You many add other items grown in your garden such as flowers and a basket or creative vessel on which to display your arrangement.

Kate Greenberg, the Commissioner of the Colorado Department of Agriculture will judge up to 100 photo entries of garden arrangements from across the state. Well-seasoned to first-year Colorado gardeners will compete to see who can WOW Commissioner Greenberg with their harvest arrangement!

Every qualified entry will receive one 1-day gate pass for the 2021 Colorado State Fair! Prizes will be awarded for: Most Colorful Arrangement, Best Fair-Themed Arrangement, and Funniest Arrangement. Entries will be judged on visual Quality of plants in the arrangement, Creativity, Composition and Originality.

Share a photo of the fruits (and vegetables!) of your labor.

Entry registration is Monday, August 3rd through Friday, August 14th (or when 100 entries are submitted, whichever happens first). Winners will be announced on Colorado State Fair Facebook and Instagram pages on Friday, August 28th.
